Anne Arundel county lifts ban on Tasers for Residents

Anne Rundel county residents will soon be allowed to carry Tasrs.
5 days ago the County Council decided to lift the ban on the devices.
The County Executive Laura Newman says she will sign a bill allowing residents to carry tasers, and states a personal reason for her support of it.
In a statement posted on Facebook... Neuman said “Tasers are a lawful option for self protection,”then added "on a personal note.... As a rape survivor, i'd like to think that having a self-protection device might save others from the trauma of a violent crime."

The County Council has voted to lift a ban on the devices for anyone over the age of 18 who passes a criminal background check. If the weapons are improperly used, violators could get up to three years in jail and up to a $3,000 fine.
"They can carry these in public, malls, restaurants, they can have one on them at all times
to protect themselves and their family." said County Councilman Derek Fink, R-District 3, who sponsored the bill.
